Our Story
In 2014, we went to the Afropunk Fest in Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park.
We set up a small, simple studio outside with lights, a backdrop and a camera. We came to Afropunk with the intention of just making a few portraits of those enjoying the festival. Whenever someone came over, we made sure to give the the best, most focused attention we could.
Pretty soon, there was a HUGE line of people at our stand. They were willing to wait hours just to get that experience. The line wound up getting so long, that we had the festival’s organizers asking us what our secret was. It was then that we learned a very important lesson:
Everyone, no matter who they are, wants to feel seen, valued and cared for.
That day, we decided we wanted to give people this feeling all the time. From there, Jonsar Studios was born.
Helping You Bring Out The Magic
When we started Jonsar Studios, we knew we wanted to provide portrait sessions AND a luxury photo booth alternative. That’s why, we developed our mobile event studio which is capable of creating, processing, printing, sharing and displaying portraits all with our signature quality.
People often ask what our most memorable event has been, and the truth is, it’s impossible to choose. We’ve worked with incredible clients including The Academy Awards, Facebook and Jack Daniels. One project that was especially satisfying was a partnership with FWD.US, in which we helped share the stories of undocumented Americans.
Our business has grown since our first pop-up in Brooklyn, but one thing hasn’t changed: We’re committed to capturing people at their best. As artists, we always wanted to make beautiful pictures. With Jonsar Studios, we get to do just that—and make extraordinary experiences too.
